The Coomera Connector, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

The M1 is an 8-lane motorway from Brisbane in the north, to exit 66, Smith Street Motorway, Parkwood, on the Gold Coast, after which the M1 reduces to a 6-lane motorway through to exit 84, Varsity Lakes; this is now continuing as a 4 to 6 lane widening infrastructure project, all the way to the New South Wales border tunnel, funded by both the Australian Federal Government and Queensland State Government.

Community Consultation

With community consultation now complete, and land acquisitions occurring or already in place, the proposed new 6-lane highway east of the M1 and train line, to be called, ‘The Coomera Connector’ motorway; now seems to be a foregone conclusion about to be realized.

45km North-South Motorway Corridor

The Coomera Connector will be a 45km north-south motorway corridor, running between the Logan Motorway and M1/Pacific Motorway interchange at Loganholme in the north, continuing south through the western end of Ashmore, before finishing at Nerang Broadbeach Road, Nerang.

Stage 1 Identified

The new motorway is expected to be wide enough to include provision for public transport, walking paths and bike riding.  Stage 1 has been identified as the southern section between Coomera and Nerang.  There will also be allowance for a local road joining the Coomera Connector at Eagleby, through to Beenleigh Redland Bay Road and Mount Cotton Road at Carbrook.

Coomera Connector (Stage 1): A Real Estate Agents in Ashmore Perspective on Infrastructure Development

As a professional real estate agent in Ashmore, understanding the impact of infrastructure development on property values is crucial. The Coomera Connector (Stage 1) is a significant infrastructure project that is set to enhance the connectivity of the region. This article provides an informative overview of this project and its implications from a real estate perspective.

Project Overview

The Coomera Connector, also known as the second M1, is a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Coomera and Nerang. The project is divided into three main stages. Stage 1, which is the focus of this article, involves the construction of a 16km route which will be split into three construction packages.

Project Benefits

The benefits of Coomera Connector (Stage 1) are manifold. Key Features

The Coomera Connector (Stage 1) will provide improved connections and accessibility. The feedback also indicated that noise, landscape, and the environment were key issues raised by residents living near the Coomera Connector.

Environmentally Sensitive Design

The project team has made considerable efforts to ensure that the Coomera Connector is designed and delivered in an environmentally sensitive manner. This includes conducting wildlife, flora, and aquatic ecological surveys along the Stage 1 corridor, and developing a Koala Management Plan to protect this iconic species.
