Queensland’s Minimum Housing Standards

The new Queensland Minimum Housing Standards (MHS) will come into effect for new leases on 1 September 2023. These standards are designed to ensure that all rental properties are safe and habitable, and you have a responsibility to ensure that your properties meet these standards.

The MHS cover a wide range of issues, including

  • Electrical safety
  • Fire safety
  • Maintenance
  • Pest control
  • Plumbing safety
  • Structural safety
